6th Annual Stop Drop and Reel Firefighter Charity Halibut Tournament
June 14, 2008

The Carlsbad Firefighters Association is sponsoring its 6th annual Stop Drop and Reel Firefighter Charity Halibut Tournament on June 14th 2008. Proceeds go to the UCSD Regional Burn Center to benefit its Brave Heart Kids Program.*

The tournament is open to everyone but each boat must have at least one active duty or retired fire department representative in the crew. Paramedics welcome.

This is a fire department bragging rights tournament.

There are no restrictions on line test, but IGFA, CA DFG and Mexican regulations apply. Treble hooks will not be allowed.

All fish must be weighed in between 3:30 – 5:00 pm at the San Diego Marlin Club, 2445 Shelter Island Drive, San Diego.

There is a huge raffle, great prizes and an awards barbecue at the San Diego Marlin Club, starting at 4:30 p.m. the day of the tournament.

The entry fee is $50 per person which includes a t-shirt, grab bag and the BBQ. There is an optional $50 per boat side jackpot for first and second place payout.

*The Brave Heart Kids Program is a peer support program sponsored by the UCSD Regional Burn Center for child and teenage burn survivors and their families. The mission of their program is to:

  • Provide safe, fun, and educational activities
  • Promote self esteem
  • Allow kids to network with each other to give support
  • Provide interaction with positive role models from the local adult burn
    survivor community
